Jeanette is a (litigation) lawyer at Smallegange Lawyers and advises clients on, and litigates, complex disputes in international transport and trade law. Her practice is rooted in maritime law and spans a broad range of clients, including insurers, carriers, terminals, logistics service providers, shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, and parties involved in salvage and assistance operations.
She handles, among other matters, claims for cargo damage in road, sea and inland waterway transport, insurance disputes, arrests, limitation proceedings, and commercial contractual conflicts. She also advises on the drafting and review of contracts, including charterparties, salvage agreements, general terms and conditions, and agreements for forwarding, storage and other logistics services. With her background in insurance and employment law, she is able to approach matters in an integrated and practical manner, including personal injury cases, for which she retains a strong professional affinity.
Her practice increasingly focuses on logistics liability and international litigation, without losing sight of traditional maritime and transport law matters. She combines in-depth knowledge of substantive law with a clear, solution-oriented approach and maintains the maritime networks that are characteristic of Smallegange Lawyers.
In addition to her work at Smallegange Lawyers, Jeanette is a board member of the Havenvereniging Rotterdam (Rotterdam Port Association) and an active member of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA).
