VACANCY
Attorney-at-law

Due to a growing practice, Smallegange Lawyers is looking for an attorney-at-law with an interest in the international shipping and transport practice.

Smallegange Lawyers is a Rotterdam law firm with an established name in the transport sector (the ‘wet practice’) and the international commercial litigation practice.

The Smallegange team of attorneys is young and dynamic. The three partners are between 40 and 45 years old. Smallegange’s practice has a strong international character. We not only have a strong position in the Dutch (insurance) market, but also serve many foreign clients, including foreign P&I insurers, large shipping companies and international trading companies. Part of our work also comes from our network of foreign correspondents.

We are looking for candidates who are interested in specializing in the practice of our firm. A solid foundation in civil (procedural) law (Books 3, 6 and 7 of the Dutch Civil Code and the Dutch Code of Civil Procedure) is absolutely essential. Knowledge of private international law is recommended.

We offer:

  • Challenging work, often with an international character
  • A position within a team of young lawyers, with an established reputation and an eye on the future
  • No standard / assembly line work, but cases of a high legal-substantive level
  • Great cases for great clients
  • Space to independently handle cases and build up your own practice

We ask:

  • A completed or almost completed internship as a lawyer (approx. 3-6 years of experience)
  • Interest in the practice of our office
  • A sound knowledge of civil law and civil procedural law
  • Knowledge of international private law and/or insurance law is recommended
  • Knowledge of transport law is not required, but interest in acquiring that knowledge with us is
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in Dutch and English
